Hi & Welcome!
Hello! My name is Lauren, and I run A Dash Of Luxury. I’m a born and raised New Yorker, where I currently reside with my husband, Josh, and our two yorkies. I started blogging in 2008, documenting the plans for our not-so-small destination wedding. I’ve been re-capping our trips since 2010, building an audience based on my honest opinions, astute eye for luxury, and detailed trip recaps & reviews. I officially opened A Dash Of Luxury in 2013, showcasing travel tips, reviews, and of course my famous trip recaps. While I love a good five-star hotel, I feel it has to truly be worth the money. Travel is my passion, which can be expensive, especially when looking at the best of the best. I look forward to sharing my personal experiences with you, which in turn will hopefully help as you plan your own trips and travel!

~ Frequently Asked Questions ~
What do you love most about travel?
I love experiencing different cultures and seeing how other people live. There’s something special about experiencing history, too. It’s more than just merely hearing the stories of the past. I’m floored by it! To walk the ruins of Carthage, to stand in the actual Roman Colosseum, to travel by teak boat in Asia – it’s all about learning and experiencing, which is such an amazing thing! At the same time, I love being pampered at a good hotel. I see them as destinations in themselves. From ones that simply offer something unique, to full five star luxury resorts, it’s what I live for!
What do you hate most about travel?
First and foremost, I hate leaving my dogs! I wish I could take them everywhere I go. I’ll take this minute to THANK pet friendly hotels. I love you! Second, I hate flying. I know, it’s crazy, but I’m actually extremely jealous of anyone who finds it enjoyable (like my husband). The anxiety it causes me is off the charts. Face you’re fears though, right? And if you’re like me, get pills from your doctor. Third, I definitely miss my own bed. I don’t care how comfortable a hotel bed is, there’s nothing like being in your very own.
What was your worst travel experience?
I can honestly say that I haven’t had any. Sure, I’ve had plenty of things not go my way, but as long there’s great company, there’s no such thing as a bad trip!
If you could add one thing to all hotel rooms what would it be?
Two luggage racks! Why, 99% of the time, is there only one? It’s so frustrating!
Where is your dream trip?
There are so many places I want to visit, but my absolute dream trip is to go to Bora Bora! I was lucky enough to visit this past year, and you can read all about it here.
You really know a lot about Disney World. How many times have you been?
For just Disney World? 20 (and counting), which isn’t too shabby for someone who lives in New York. You can read the recaps I’ve posted since starting the blog here. My first trip was in 1985 (when I was only six months old), and I’ve been going back religiously ever since. On top of that, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the Disneyland in California, and the Disneyland in Hong Kong. I definitely want to go to them all. We still have Disneyland Paris, Japan, and China to go!
