I’m ridiculously excited for our upcoming trip to Disney World. I recently received an email from Disney asking if I want to set up FastPass+, which would require me linking my park tickets. I’m assuming this is gearing us up for our Disney World Magic Bands. Oh the dread!
I don’t care how popular they’ve become, I will absolutely not be wearing one of these bands/bracelets/wristlets – whatever you want to call it.
I hear guests can still request a key to the world card, which I will definitely be doing. All I want is a regular room key. Please and thank you.
I don’t understand what was wrong with the key to the world card? If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.
So, what are Disney World Magic Bands?
According to the Disney Website, it’s a band with a special chip in it that enables guests to travel lighter throughout their vacation. You can load your park tickets onto it, access FastPass+, and even open your hotel room door.
Sounds like the key to the world card to me, but then again, I’m no expert.
I feel like “wearing a band” is a children’s thing. It’s like when you’re a kid at a resort, like the Atlantis, and are forced to wear a wristband in case you get separated from your parents.
Not to mention, Magic Bands are hideous looking. Talk about a horrible accessory!
At the end of the day, if I DO get stuck with one, because this seems to be the way Disney is going, I’ll probably shove it in my purse and have to fish it out when needed, just like a regular room key, only more annoying because it takes up more room. Therefore, unlike Disney says, it does not allow me to travel lighter, because let’s face it, I’ll probably have to throw Josh’s in my purse too.
