The last time we dined here was our very first time, and I thought it was so cool. It really is such a unique dining venue!
Blue Bayou is set inside the Pirates Of The Caribbean ride. Last time, I said I wouldn’t necessarily return for the meal, but I would for the ambiance, and that still holds true.
Returning with a toddler, I realized just how dark it is inside. While I thought it only added to the cool atmosphere last time, this time around it was slightly annoying when it was time to cut up her food! Ha! In all seriousness though, we didn’t realize just how messy she got until we left. It really is dim, and luckily the menus have flashlights built in.
We got prime a table on the water, which was so exciting. Literally the best seat in the house. We had a 4:30 reservation, and I think it helped that we were dining just before the dinner rush. Don’t let that fool you though, this place is always busy because it’s so popular, and reservations are highly recommended.
The ambiance was just as cool as I remembered. The food was just as okay as I recall, but the service definitely was not the same as before. I wanted another go at their filet minion. It’s served with lobster, and I can’t do lobster, so I asked for just the meat. Instead of discussing an allergy, the waiter just flat out stated that the cost will remain the same and it cannot be substituted with something else. It was super weird, because I didn’t even ask for something else, or a price adjustment. It says no substitutions right on the menu, but I find it bizarre that they can’t accommodate a little better, or at least have a more pleasant attitude about it, so it just came across as rude.
Anyway, would I return again? Probably. I mean, you’re INSIDE the Pirates ride!
