Located in the Norway pavilion at Epcot, Disney’s Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is one of my favorite Disney World eateries. I can’t say much about the lunch or dinner, but each trip we’re always making sure the breakfast is on our must-do list.
The downside to most character meals (for us at least), is that they’re served buffet-style (ie Chef Mickey’s). I don’t know about you, but I personally can’t stand buffets. It’s exhausting enough walking around the parks all day – the last thing I want to do is wait on another line to eat. It’s okay, you can call me lazy. There comes a point in the day when I’m done walking from one land to the next, and I don’t want to see a line (let alone stand in one).
Anyway, at Disney’s Akershus Royal Banquet Hall the food is served family style, so not only do the characters come to your table, but your food does too!
While there is a small buffet of pastries, fruits, and meats – eggs, bacon, and breakfast potatoes are served table side. I could not love this more! The food isn’t amazing by any means, especially considering you’re shelling out $100 for breakfast (based on two adults), but you’re in Disney and high prices are what you should expect, but the food IS good. Josh and I do happen to enjoy it, and I, of course, will pay any amount of money to eat and be visited by Cinderella and Snow White – two of my favorite things (food + princesses = amazingness).
Our dining habits amaze us when we’re in Disney, because at no other time do we eat this much, let alone even eat breakfast. For not being breakfast people we sure do eat a lot of it here, and that’s thanks to Disney’s amazing restaurants and character meal experiences.
One of my favorite things about staying at an Epcot resort (we’ve stayed at Beach Club and Boardwalk thus far), is that we can wake up at our leisure, walk to Epcot for breakfast (because it’s THAT’S CLOSE), and then walk off our breakfast while enjoying the park. That’s what we did this time around, so within less than ten minutes I went from my hotel room to Akershus. Not too shabby. However, not pictured? The crazy line of people waiting (two hours) to meet the characters of Frozen, which is the first thing we saw when we arrived at the Norway pavilion. Oy.
Anyway, upon arrival at Akershus, guests are greeted by Belle for a picture, which is included with your meal (and should be for the price!). Then, while you eat, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Ariel walk around to each table.
