Located in the Norway pavilion at Epcot, Disney’s Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is one of my favorite Disney World eateries. I can’t say much about the lunch or dinner here, since we’ve only done the breakfast. But each trip the breakfast here is a must.
The downside to most character meals (for us at least), is that they’re served buffet-style (like Chef Mickey’s). I personally don’t love buffets. Especially in Disney World. It’s exhausting enough walking around the parks all day. The last thing I want to do is wait on another line to eat. It’s fine, you can call me lazy. There comes a point in the day when I’m done walking from one land to the next, and I just don’t want to see another line, let alone stand in one.
Anyway, at Disney’s Akershus Royal Banquet Hall the food is served family style, so not only do the characters come to you, but your food does too!
There is a small buffet of pastries, fruits, and meats. But eggs, bacon, and breakfast potatoes are served table side. I could not love this more! The food isn’t amazing by any means, especially considering you’re shelling out $100 for breakfast (based on two adults), but it’s good. However, you’re in Disney World and high prices are what you should expect. We do enjoy it, and I, of course, will pay any amount of money to eat and be visited by Cinderella and Snow White.
Our dining habits amaze us when we’re in Disney, because at no other time do we eat this much. Especially for not being breakfast people, we sure do eat a lot of it here, thanks to Disney’s amazing restaurants and character meal experiences.
One of my favorite things about staying at an Epcot resort is that we can wake at our leisure and walk to Epcot for breakfast (because it’s THAT’S CLOSE). That’s what we did this time around, so within less than ten minutes I went from my hotel room to Akershus. Not too shabby. However, not pictured? The crazy line of people waiting (two hours) to meet the characters from Frozen. It’s the first thing we saw when we arrived at the Norway pavilion, and I nearly had a panic attack just looking at the insane line. Never.
Anyway, upon arriving at Akershus, guests are greeted by Belle for a picture, which is included with your meal. Then, while you eat, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Ariel come around.
It’s so fun! If you haven’t been I urge you to give it a try!
