A super easy metro ride from Rome proper, is another must do – Vatican City. Vatican City is huge, and can be completely overwhelming for some. In fact, you can spend an entire day here alone! We included Vatican City in our grand “one day of major sightseeing,” and miraculously, we got to see it all. I guess we’re just THAT good ;). Anyway, here are some must do Vatican tips and pictures from our time there!
I loved seeing the Vatican City walls from a distance, and then again up close. After admiring the walls (which sounds super weird, I know), we made our way inside. Tip: Stop and admire the walls. To our surprise, there was NO LINE!
The museum is HUGE. There’s SO MUCH to see. Not to mention, there are some great spots to look out onto Rome. Tip: If you’re pressed for time, there are some shorter routes you can take to see the “more important” aspects, including the Sistine Chapel. Don’t overlook going here just because “you don’t have time.”
Tip: There’s no photography allowed in the Sistine Chapel. However, if you turn off your flash and can hide your camera well enough, and be discreet…
