An UNESCO World Heritage Site, Park Guell Barcelona, or technically Parc Guell, is made up of beautiful gardens and unique architecture – of course, designed by, you guessed it – Gaudi.
Park Guell is one of the many places in Barcelona you can see work by Antoni Gaudi – for real, this guy’s stuff is everywhere, and I mean everywhere. It seems as though the entire city was designed by Gaudi. I’m not kidding.
The park is a bit far from the city center – in the Gracia district – but is easily accessible via the metro. However, during my pre-planning, nowhere did any place mention that it’s a hike to get to. Seriously, it’s SO HIGH UP. I was so exhausted by the time I actually made it to the top. I’ve never felt so out of shape in my life.
While I may have walked around the park totally out of breath from the hike, no amount of tiredness could damper the views – they were out of this world. It’s amazing to see how the Sagrada Familia shoots up out of Barcelona!
Now onto the actual park. The gardens and architecture are unlike anything you will ever see. I for one was floored by the details.
More Barcelona highlights coming up!
