I don’t know what we were thinking when we originally decided to tour Bangkok on our own. Don’t get me wrong, we totally could have handled it, but we never would have seen everything we wanted. I’m so glad we decided to hire a guide the night before. Best decision ever. Having a driver and a separate guide was something I clearly overlooked during planning. Bangkok is CROWDED, and HOT, and thanks to the tour we booked though the Four Seasons, we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Touring Bangkok was a pleasure and a breeze, especially since it was just the two of us. The day was PERFECT, and we saw SO MUCH. We would have never been able to hit all these must see sites on our own.
After every stop we got back into a FREEZING cold vehicle on our way to the next location. This alone made the tour worth every penny. Seriously. The blasting AC was the best thing ever. Add that to an endless supply of water and washcloths to cool off with, and I was one happy girl who was ready and eager for each new stop.
Our guide also offered insight we would have otherwise been without AND he was hilarious. A total win-win. Learning we were from New York, he immediately began to tell us how much he loves Lady Gaga. Then he kept quoting lyrics. He cracked us up!
Remember the amazing dinner we ate the night before at Sirocco? Check out the Lebua State building during the day! I can’t believe we were all the way up there!
Tip: Bring socks! Don’t wear expensive shoes! Just about every temple you visit you will be required to remove your shoes. Hubs didn’t wear socks, which made for hot feet against the baking concrete.
By the end of the day I was exhausted, and I mean completely DONE. So worn out, but also so enlightened and happy to have met such amazing people and see such a wonderful culture.
Up next, all the sightseeing highlights you don’t want to miss!
