In this post I’m going to highlight some of the main things to see in the the Phi Phi islands. Hint: It’s beaches. There are so many amazing beaches here, and some are definitely better than others. More importantly, each offers something unique. There are two particularly popular beaches that most tours/people like to hit, and that’s Maya Beach and Monkey Beach. While we visited others as well, in this post I’m going to focus on these two popular ones.
Maya Bay Beach
The most famous beach in the Phi Phi islands has hands down got to be Maya Bay (made famous via the Leonardo Dicaprio movie, The Beach). I can totally see why it’s so popular. I mean, I get it. Completely. While there are other beaches you can visit with little to no crowd, this one is still worth the trip. The sand here is fabulous. It’s by far the best feeling sand my toes have ever experienced, and the color of the water is SO gorgeous! Sometimes tourist attractions are that for a reason. Because they are worth seeing. This is simply one of those places.
We spent a lot of time here, so aside from relaxing on the beach, we ventured inland and got to explore some of the island too.
Another popular beach that’s worth checking out is Monkey Beach. True to its name, this beach is inhabited by wild monkeys. And they will get really close to you. I mean, really, really close. These little guys love to visit guests in search of food. Seriously though guys, don’t feed them. It really ruins their natural way of obtaining food. Also, don’t touch them. They are wild monkeys. I find it weird that this even has to be said. I just don’t see how they should be this friendly in real life, and it’s obvious they are getting some (not so) good stuff to eat.
